Trains on this line:
IHB, CRL, CSX, CN, CPKC, BNSF, UP, IAIS, METRA, NS

With a double diamond interlocking and eight tracks crossing Broadway Street, the Blue Island interchange is described as one of the most fascinating rail-watching hotspots in the Midwest. Just south of five steel bridges that cross the Cal-Sag Channel, about 90 trains roll through this junction daily. This junction is where CSX’s Elsdon Sub, CSX Barr Sub, and IHB Mainline all intersect.

You will be able to see every class 1 railroad plus Indiana Harbour Belt Railroad, Iowa Interstate Railroad, Chicago Rail Link and Metra at this location. The double diamond with the steel bridges in the background create a picturesque location, but please stay on the sidewalks since they are public property and provide a great view of the interchange.
